T588MFPROPC not able to hide field without it being blanked out in backend

Hi

We are on EHP7 HR_RENEWAL 1.0.

We have the following scenario:

- A field contains data - and this data should remain in the field

- We do not want to show the field in ESS

- We want to hide the field from customization using T588MFPROPC

This seems impossible.  The only option that hides the field is "Unused".

However, this causes the content of the field to be wiped out when saving an entry from portal.

So my question is: Is there no way to hide a field in portal using the table? Do I have to personalize to hide this field?

Personalization works fine, but I would rather customize in table whenever possible.
